The expedition ends here

Despite rigorous physical preparation, I suffered from pulmonary and cerebral edema. This was a first for me, and it forced me back down to Kathmandu, causing me to lose all my acclimatization for Makalu.

Given these circumstances and the unstable weather in the Everest region, the only rational choice is to avoid further risk. The mountain always has the final say.
